Poem – Patience is a Virtue

I am not very good at waiting for things that I want. I wrote this poem when I was feeling anxious waiting for something.

Patience is a Virtue

Waiting, always waiting
Wondering when it will come
Will it float to me like a feather
Gliding slowly on the wind

Or will it hit me like an anvil
Heavy and swift
Crushing me underneath the weight

So I wait

I wait for time to slow or speed up or maybe even to stop

I wait and I wonder
What will it be
What will happen when it takes over me

I have never been one for waiting
Shaking all of the boxes to figure out their prizes

So I wait and I wait
And I wait some more
Not ever knowing what I am waiting for
