Flash Fiction: Hiding from Nazis

With the sound of heavy foot steps coming up the stairs, everyone’s heart paused for just a second out of fear. How did they find them? As everyone turned to look at each other, they were all thinking the same thing. If they try to move, it may make enough noise to confirm their existence. Unsure what to do, they all just stayed in their spots and tried to be invisible.

The jiggling of the door handle made them hold their breath.

“Hey! I think I hear something in the basement,” said one of the soldiers.

Footsteps were heard leaving.
