Flash Fiction: I Would Do Anything For Them

 

The undulating waves made us feel even more nauseous as we feared the worst. By this point, we had forgotten how long we had been on that raft. I looked over at my wife and son on the other side and wondered how much longer they could hold on. I knew what I had to do. If I died, they could eat me to survive.

I pulled out a knife from my pocket. That’s when I heard the caw of a seagull. I knew land was near. As I put the knife away, I swore to never tell them. (99 words)
