Flash Fiction: Getting Rusty

Prompt 4:

Setting: On a Fishing Boat
Character: A Bull Rider
Object: A Rusty Nail
Mood: Interested

Getting Rusty

Rusty leaned against the boat contemplating whether it was time to retire. His body was starting to take longer to heal from each fall. Even though fishing was not his idea of fun, he still found it interesting to watch his father and brother compete for the biggest fish. As if they had control.

His bobber began to move and he stood up in anticipation. It went under and Rusty walked closer to the edge, tripping on an old rusty nail that was jutting out. The jolt let the fish wiggle free. Maybe he should stick with bull riding. (99 words)
