Flash Fiction: Innocent Bystander

Prompt 3:

Setting: Ketchikan, Alaska
Character: Innocent Bystander
Object: Tape

Innocent Bystander

It was hard to convince them that I was just an innocent bystander. I had been taking my daily walk when I came across 3 men kicking at something on the ground. When they saw me, all of them ran. This seemed suspicious to me.

At first, I didn’t notice that it was a man under the blanket. It wasn’t until I saw the wallet open on the ground that it all became real to me. His ID said he wasn’t from Ketchinkan, Alaska. The police put the caution tape around the area as I tried to explain my innocence. (99 words)
