Flash Fiction: Last Meal

Prompt 5:

Setting: Estonia
Character: Autoworker
Object: Bacon and Eggs
Weather: Rainy

Last Meal

After tightening the last carburetor screw, Tony was officially done for the day. Just two hours past schedule. The rain pounded against the windshield as he drove. He knew that Estonia’s Diner would still be open at this hour. He got his usual booth and without even having to order, his waitress brought over his favorite bacon and eggs.

He felt as if he could die happy after finishing the last bite. At that moment, a retired vet had a heart attack while driving, leaving his vehicle out of control barreling towards the diner. Tony never saw it coming. (99 words)

  1. You really make it seem so easy along with your presentation however I find this matter to be really something that I believe I’d never understand. It seems too complex and very large for me. I am looking ahead to your subsequent post, I will attempt to get the hang of it!

    • I try to use each of 99 words to its fullest. The objective is to tell a bigger story or paint a large picture but only using 99 words. I like to put a twist at the end of my stories to keep the reader thinking. It is complex sometimes. I say make what you can of it. Writers write to make people think and feel. Whatever you get out of it is what you were supposed to get put of it. No more and no less.

    • Thank you. After creating my own website, I stumbled upon flash fiction myself. I am now addicted to writing it. Before these past few months, I was a middle school English teacher. Most of my writing was from prompts I have my students and a novel o started writing but lost motivation for. I hope you enjoy more writing in word press as you explore.
