Flash Fiction: Interview

“Can I be candid with you, Michael?”, Mr. Banks was tapping on his desk with his monogrammed pen.

“Of course.”

“Many candidates have more qualifications than you do…” he paused dramatically keeping his eyes on the resume and never once looking up at Michael.

Michael’s shoulders began to sink slowly in anticipation of what was about to happen.

“But…I too was once like you and someone gave me a shot…”

Michael instantly sat as straight as he could.

“Welcome to the team.” Mr. Banks stretched out his hand and smiled.

“You won’t regret this!” Michael shook his hand. (99 words)
