January 25, 2018, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story that goes to the edge. Consider what the edge might be and how it informs the story. Go where the prompt leads.
Barely Hanging On
Jeff was slowly getting used to spending his Saturday mornings driving to his soon to be ex-wife’s house to pick up their kids. The drive was just enough time to build up the courage to smile when he got there.
The thoughts of all that he had lost due to being selfish consumed him as he drove. He had driven this route many times but somehow forgot how sharp that last curve was. It all happened so fast. His car was hanging on the edge. Before it fell, he sent one single text to his wife, “I am sorry.” (99 words)

Well at least he had remorse and got to say so. That’s a full up 99 words.

Even when he was having regret it took facing death to find the words that could have mended many lives. Well done, Chelsea.

Heather! My turn to say, “I’m sorry!” Although not too bad of a mix up considering you both wrote knock-out flashes this week!

Our past mistakes do not define us. Unfortunately, my main character had not figured that out yet.
