The Window
I don’t remember having any clear thoughts. I guess my instincts kicked in. Looking back on it now, it felt like everything all went in slow motion.
Stopping at the red light.
The hand reaching in the window with a gun.
A split-second glance in the mirror at my toddler.
Before I could even comprehend what I was doing, the automatic window went up clamping onto the man’s arm. He dropped the gun into my lap. I lowered the window just enough for his arm to be freed.
The light turned green the moment my foot hit the gas.

I tried to picture a scene like this and what I’d do, but kept thinking I’d freeze up! So, I went a bit silly with mine.
