Poem – Nightly Ritual

It begins in the heart

Pulse racing at the start

But then begins to slow

As your mind begins to roll

The room feels darker now

You aren’t even sure how

But somehow you just know

That it is your time to go

Off to a world deep in your head

Far from the limits of your bed

Flying with fish in the bright sky

Swimming with birds where water lie

Physics is nowhere it seems

For reality is not for dreams

Float along until you hear the sound

That’ll make you come back around

Lying in your comfy bed

With messy hair upon your head

You struggle to find your motivation

To get up and leave your location

Tonight you will do it all again

When you feel it start to begin

The heart beats fast and then is slows

Where you will go, nobody knows
