Digging Up the Truth

Ever since my husband went away, I have been trying to create as much fun as I can for the kids. So, I racked up a big pile of leaves as my kids played on the playset. Our golden retriever, Gus, wanted to help, but he was mostly just digging holes. When it was ready, the kids jumped into the pile. While they were all laughing and throwing leaves, my dog brought me something he dug up. I quickly shoved the severed hand with a wedding ring that matched mine into my pocket. Thank God the kids never saw.
