Poem – Welcome to America

Welcome to America

Home of the free

Where freedom is only as free as your wallet size

Bring your tired and poor

To sit on the side of the road

Begging for human necessities

Your huddled masses will do more than yearn

As they get paid less than a livable wage

Working the jobs no one wants

Let Lady Liberty light your way

Towards inequality and endless debt

Knowing they won’t let you rise above

Your ticket to your new life

Is merely what you can do for us

And never what we can do for you

So, come join us in America

Where the rich get richer

And the rest hold the heavy load
